Company History Wertenberger Tire has been providing quality tires and service for over 40 years. Founded by Jim Wertenberger in 1964, the company started in the former Gould Tire store at the corner of Jefferson Street and Riverside Drive. The original building only had one service bay, and tires were changed outside on the sidewalk along Riverside Drive. As business grew, it was time to think about expansion.   The solution??? A 50-foot air hose was purchased to work on cars further down the sidewalk! By the mid 1970s, it became clear that a new facility was needed. In 1977, Wertenberger Tire moved into its current location at 1400 South Jefferson Street. Jeff Wertenberger, Jim's son, joined the company in 1984. Business continued to grow, so in 1990, 4 additional bays were added, bringing the total to 10.
